Overheard at the Office

Did you see Apple’s Remote Desktop product?

No I hadn’t, but that’s cool. How much is it?

$499 per administrator.

I can buy a whole Chinese kid for that much.

Yeah, I wonder which one of the three of us here at the office said that? Who could it be?

  3. Jeff October 18th, 2007 3:08 pm

That’s what it costs to pay for 10 Chinese kids school for a year: http://chinatomorrow.org/howtogive.html :-)

Is that a real charity? I would consider sponsoring some Chinese children to go along with our African children.

Yeah, we know a few of the board members and they are run from Seattle so we have access to all of the meeting to see how it is being administered. It was founded by a group of Intel, Boeing, MSFT and other people — mostly funded and run by Chinese-speaking expats who can go back to the villages and visit; people we work with who have visited the schools and students. The opportunities for kids in villages and outlying provinces are absolutely dismal, so this really makes a difference.

Kids in africa? So you were that guy “helping” Oprah’s school? :-P

Ok, I’m in for two kids education for a year. I just donated.

    Anyone else in?
