Brings me back

This video reminds me of back in the day (circa 1994) when Joshua and I used to sneak into OU’s computer lab posing as students in order to use their HP workstations and T1 line. That was back when you could still easily ping flood people off of IRC.

I remember not long after that it was like “pulling teeth” in order to convince him to switch to Netscape Navigator Beta 0.9 because it was a “commercial” product.

Crazy; I remember using gatekeeper.dec.com as fileserver. I also disliked Navigator because it used a sneaky deceptive statusbar trick to make people think it was faster.

If you can’t actually make it faster, and it just seems faster to the user, isn’t that good?

Don’t forget that we were using 14.4 Kbps modems back then.
