Apple iPhone Pre-Release Non-Details

I find Apple’s pre-release promotional plan for the iPhone to be very interesting:

  1. There’s no confirmed objective information available. I’ve read some information that supposedly came from a beta user, but who really knows?
  2. The only public demonstrations have been in highly-controlled environments with preset “scripts.”
  3. Related to #1, all information to this point has been tightly controlled and comes directly from Apple.
  4. It’s four days before launch and we don’t even know how much service plans cost yet.

There aren’t many companies other than Apple that could get away with all this without a ton of criticism.

    Mark,
iPhone service plans are shown on the apple website. They don’t look to bad considering what I am paying for Verizon.

They weren’t there yet when I posted this. I’ll go look now…

You’re right. They do look pretty good. Since they all come with unlimited data, I could get by with the $60 plan (I prefer email to actually talking).

That $99 plan is better than what I have with Verizon. Now getting the phone sometime before December may be tough.
