Firefox on Vista

If anyone is wondering why Firefox doesn’t run on Vista with the Flash Player plugin installed, it’s because you need to do this crap.

Go to c:\Users\[your_username]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Mozila Firefox\ and delete xpicleanup.dat.

It will start launching normally.

PS: This of course should be done after killing xpicleanup process in the Task Manager (if needed) and deleting xpicleanup.exe from c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\

Hmm, I didn’t have to do any of that… Firefox 1.x or 2?

I have V2. I think it happens if you already had the Flash player installed with IE7 and it’s not the newest version. Then when you install Firefox, it says it needs the flash player and when you download it, BANG. So, you need to do that stuff (I also manually uninstalled the flash player).

Oh ok. I think I installed FF first, then flash.

It’s true. I love my iMac. Now excuse me while I order some chocolate from Equal Exchange. If you need me, I’ll be driving my Prius to a coffee bar, where I’ll be writing a novel on my MBP promoting gun control the legalization of cannabis…
