My “Vacation” – Day 3

On the third day of my vacation, I took our 8-year-old son, John, to my favorite musem, The Henry Ford. After viewing their collection of locomotives and Presidential limousines, we perused the airplane exhibit. John’s ear was hurting so badly (due to having swimmer’s ear) that he asked if we could then go back to the hotel. He’d been talking all week about how he wanted to see the Rosa Parks’ bus and the chair in which Abraham Lincoln was assassinated, so we quickly made our way to these exhibits which he hardly enjoyed because of his ear pain.

This is John in front of Lincoln’s chair. We were surprised to find out that it was a “rocker”.

This is the historic bus on which Rosa Parks refused (rightly) to give up her seat. The one thing that I didn’t like about this display was the fact that the bus was over-restored. The current paint job is of much higher-quality than it would have had originally. Also, the interior is impeccable, like a show car. Other than that, it was very cool to stand inside that bus.
