The Incident

Well I almost won a Darwin Award yesterday. I crashed my motorcycle and then it crashed into Rick on his motorcycle.
I don’t have any broken bones, but I have some road rash which after being scrubbed by a Nylon scrub brush, it is the most painful thing I’ve felt in my life. I am taking Vicodin, but it just takes the edge off, it doesn’t make it even remotely painless.
We were going south on Hayden to get some coffee, and we usually turn into the second entrance of the shopping center. I was going about 55 MPH and noticed there was a guy doing landscaping using a leaf blower standing on the curb. I had my attention on him because I’ve seen those guys actually step into the street. When I was sure he wasn’t going into the street, I looked further ahead and saw Rick stopped with his right blinker on just starting to turn. I grabbed my front brake in a fruitless effort to stop before I got to him (I would’ve hit him broadside otherwise) and my front wheel locked and the bike came down on its right side throwing me to the right, also.
It’s amazing how your brain can think of so many things in such a short period of time. I was thinking “Oh, this is not good”, “Ouch!”, “When am I going to stop tumbling?!?”, and “Why in the hell did I leave my Riding Jacket in the data center?!?”
I’ll tell more later, my arm is really hurting from holding it in the air to type.
